JULY 1999 GREAT WHITE NORTH FISHING TRIP.
.. EVENT DESCRIPTION: 1999 ANNUAL GREAT WHITE NORTH FISHING TRIP. During July 4 - 9, 1999 two members of the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada 'Great White North Team' travelled to Reservoir Pipmaucan which is approximately 220 kms north-east of the city of Chicoutimi in Quebec, Canada. The first two and a half days of fishing time out of the five days were severley hampered by cold, north-east winds and rain. The morning temperatures were a very cold 6-7 degrees celcius, requiring the wood stove in the cabin to be fired up. Regardless of the inclement weather there was fishing done every day.

RESULTS:A total of 217 northern pike were caught. The approximate weight of the catch was 425 pounds (193 kgs.). Twelve fish were kept for meals. All other fish were released.

COMMENTS:Over the years travelling to Quebec, this was the worst year for poor weather. The weather impacted negatively on the fishing. However, a good time was still had by all. Next year, weather cooperating, catches of 100 fish per day, as in previous years hopefully will again be the norm.

If anyone has questions, or would like to know more about this trip or other trips to some of the fishing camps in Quebec the Dartmouth group have fished at, contact Bill bschipilow@auracom.com

.. Dartmouth Great White North Group Quebec Fishing Trip July 2000 International Challenge bschipilow@auracom.com
.. EVENT DESCRIPTION:Quebec Fishing Trip; July, 2000. Each year during the first week of July, a small group of fishing friends from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, journey to the province of Quebec, Canada. We feel that the fishing in Quebec for northern pike cannot be surpassed. This can be disputed by some groups in other parts of the world. The Dartmouth group would like to put a friendly challenge out to all other pike fishing groups anywhere to have a friendly competition to see who catches the most number and weight of fish, and the largest fish to be caught in a period of two days of northern pike fishing this coming July, 2000. Catch and release is encouraged.
.. RULES: The following basic set of rules can be adjusted and altered to accommodate all groups participating. This competition relies on the 'honour system' amongst the participants. Two days are decided and agreed upon which are convenient to all individuals participating. The fishing time is from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm local time during the two selected days. Each of the competing groups should have the same number of participating fishermen. All fish caught are recorded and weighed. At the end of the two day period the total number of fish, the total weight of the fish, and the biggest fish caught are recorded. When participants return home each group e-mails their information to bschipilow@auracom.com at Northern Pike Fishing International where all information will be posted. A winner will be declared for all to see and that group will have the bragging rights of being known as the BEST INTERNATIONAL NORTHERN PIKE FISHING GROUP. Once a winning group is declared group is required that all participants put an evening aside to celebrate their International win. The Dartmouth Group would like to exchange pictures and/or videos of this friendly competition with other participants.
